Who we are

We can risk everything and be happy, or play it safe and always wonder what might have been.

Brian and Jessica Dear met while teaching English in Suzhou, China in 2010. Together they founded a mental health technology startup and lived all around the world. China, Mexico, France, the United States, and even a one-month stint near Hamburg, Germany which lasted about as long as it took for winter to arrive in Northern Europe.

They've alway been adventurers and willing to go all-in despite those on the sidelines advising them to continually "play it safe."

When 9-year-old Sofi Dear wanted to try racing motorcycles, they jumped headfirst into the world of Texas motorcycle racing. Sofi and her dad Brian began racing, she on a small Yamaha TTR-50 equipped for go-kart tracks, and he on an Aprilia RS660.

Sofi showed immediate talent, and the other three kids of the family soon joined her on the track. Thanks to the family-environment of the Texas Mini Grand Prix and the professionalism of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association, the Dear family soon became the Dear Racing Team. They traveled to races across Texas and Oklahoma and became regulars in the Texas racing scene. Sofi and Sebastian Dear quickly dominated the Formula 7 category with CMRA, however in the United States, there is a problem with the lack of entries for the races for younger people. The talent pipelines are just not as strong as they are in Europe.

Brian and Jessica quickly realized that to develop their kids' talent to the fullest, they needed to be challenged and have the opportunity to train with the best racers in the world.

"So let's just do it, let's move to Spain," Jessica said one evening while we drank wine on the back porch of our Spring, Texas home.

"All-in. Like Marc Marquez right?" Brian said.

They put their comfortable suburban American home on the market, they packed up everything, bought tickets, and arrived in Spain ready for yet another in a long history of adventures.

The Dear Racing Team is all about going all-in.

Perhaps the team will become world champions, perhaps they won't, but as Michael Jordan once said, "I can't accept not trying."

What can you expect from us? Everything.
